Statewide Test Results. The Scatterplots tool has been updated to reflect the expanded set of tested grades and to included the combined grades option. It is also now possible to download all the data used in the creation of the scatterplots. Statewide Test Results. Combined Grades option has been added. Users select a subject (Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, or Social Studies) and then select the "Combined Grades" option from the "Grade" row above the graph. The Similar Schools/Districts tool has been updated to reflect the expanded set of tested grades. Enrollment Update. 2005-06 enrollment counts have been posted. Updates include data by grade, gender, race/ethnicity, and disability status by school. Enrollment by Primary Disability. 2005-06 enrollment counts by primary disability have been posted. | Highlights of Spring 2006 Changes |
Statewide Test Results. November 2005 results have been posted. Students in grades 3 and 5-7 are now included in statewide reading and mathematics testing. Students at grades 4, 8, and 10 continue to be tested in reading, language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Counts of students are combined across grades and proficiency categories and are used retroactively to November 2003. Statewide test results can now be downloaded directly from WINSS pages to facilitate further data analysis by users. Other Data Updates. 2005-06 adequate yearly progress reports , 2004-05 advanced placement program exam results, 2004-05 graduation requirements, and 2004-05 truancy rates had been added. |

Download Options. Users can now download all data on WINSS for specific Data Analysis questions. Select years, locations, and questions of interest. Each year, location, and question are included in a separate file. Data are zipped and in comma delimited format. Click on "Download Options" (on left side of most graphs pages and on the Data Analysis home page) or go to WINSS Download Options. For more information, see Using WINSS Download Options. | Highlights of Summer 2004 Changes |
Download Data from Page. Users can now download CSV files containing all the information displayed on any WINSS data analysis page plus codes and counts that might be useful in combining data across years, topics, categories or groups. Click on "Download data from this page" (below the WINSS graph/table) to request a csv file. As with screen versions of these data, some data are not reported to protect student privacy. Wisconsin Alternate Assessment (WAA) Results. Users can now view WKCE and WAA results by proficiency level with percents combined or reported separately. One to two percent of students statewide take WAA in lieu of WKCE. Performances on WKCE and WAA are reported according to the same four proficiency categories: advanced, proficient, basic, minimal performance. Proficiency categories for students with limited English proficiency participating in WAA describe achievement levels that correspond to WKCE categories. Proficiency categories for students with disabilities participating in WAA describe achievement levels below the range tested on WKCE. Combined WAA and WKCE results are available beginning with November 2002 results. WAA performances by proficiency category were not collected in prior years. More Report Card Data. Teacher quality data have been added. This includes state, district, and school data about Wisconsin license status, ESEA qualified status, experience, and education level by subject taught. Scatterplots. Scatterplots have been added to compare qualifications of teachers (e.g. Wisconsin license status, experience, education, etc.) in your district/school to other districts/schools in the state, your CESA, or your county, and to examine possible associations between teacher qualifications and other variables (e.g. school poverty level, district or school size, district spending, % students of color). Data Updates. 2002-03 school performance report data have been added. |

School Climate Survey for Staff. Download flyer.
Staff morale and philosophy are key to a successful school. The School Climate Survey for Staff was designed to help school improvement planning teams assess the status of staff perceptions about the school. Questions address work style, beliefs about student achievement, attachment to the school and perceptions about staff morale. The surveys are taken from "Data Analysis for Comprehensive School Reform" by Victoria Berhardt, Eye on Education, Inc 1998. The online version of the survey was made possible by the North Central Regional

| High academic standards |
Curriculum Wizard. This on-line resource guides teachers step-by-step through the development of a standards-based course of study consisting of multiple teaching units and lessons organized around concepts and themes. The wizard includes links to relevant standards, rules, research-based strategies, highly quality sample lessons, and practical suggestions on the DPI Website. The process ends with a complete curriculum unit stored on the user's computer.

Are you looking for ways to document that students are developing the leadership and interpersonal skills that will help them become caring, contributing, productive members of society? This on-line workshop helps educators develop local benchmarks and assessment methods to document student progress in attaining standards of the heart. Based on 5 years of work by over 140 schools engaged in the DPI Partnerships in Character Education Grant, this workshop includes many examples of assessment methods being used in WI schools.

| Where can we find planning tools? |
School Improvement Planning Tool. Download flyer.
This tool automatically presents the data on WINSS pertaining to your students and school as part of a step-by-step planning process. Using the tool helps school improvement teams set goals, select research based strategies to meet the goals and establish evaluation criteria to measure success. This on-line tool is compatible with CESA data retreats or other research based improvement planning processes. The program allows school improvement teams to download their plans, edit them over time or email them to others for feedback. Resulting plans meet Federal requirements for schools identified for improvement.

Characteristics of Successful Schools Surveys. Download flyer. These Successful Schools Surveys will help identify a
school's perceived strengths in each of the seven "Characteristics of
Successful Schools" by collecting and summarizing the observations and
opinions of educators, parents, students, and/or community members. Each
group will likely have a different perspective on a school's programs.
Completing these surveys will help the school community develop and
implement a school improvement plan. These surveys were made possible by
